So here's my not so surprising surprise I said I would announce this week:
Revealing the cover of my translation project of a Turkish SF-anthology (cover art by Alessio Gherardini), and the publication date which is October 9th 2024!
As you may know, I have been working this past year on the German translation of eight Turkish science fiction short stories, plus of an intro from the editor and of a longish article on the history of science fiction and fantastic literature in Turkey for this past year. Yesterday, the publisher Memoranda has let me know that the book is now definitely included in their fall program and can already be pre-ordered on their website as well as on amazon.
As a lover of short stories, I found this project a pleasure to work on. The stories show a wide range, from dystopia galore, to octopi from other dimensions, to collective nightmares, to Ottoman punk, and even features a charming love story of an intergalactic cage fighter from Kırkpınar, Edirne. This variety is certainly the main strength of this work, which, by the way, is the first anthology comprising SF short stories from Turkey translated into German.
I'm especially thankful to Caroline Kohler from the Otherland for her support, who took the ungrateful role of the Beta-reader and helped me keeping a clear view, linguistically and personally.
I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I liked working on it!
